Has your home been infested by bed bugs

40% of all the people in the world do not react to bed bug bites

Bed bug bites

Usually noticeable as tiny red spots on the skin that are typically accompanied by pain and itching, are a sure sign of infestation. The bits are mostly found on the hands, face, neck and legs. In cases of a more severe infestation through bites can be spotted throughout the whole body. They lack a tip that distinguishes them from other insect bites and most often fades away by themselves. The symptoms are similar to the ones of flea or mosquito bites, but those of the bed bugs can cause acute reactions that can lead to an allergic shock or worse. Bed bugs do not carry diseases, and there are no recorded cases in which they have infected their victim. They often will do a few bites until they find the most suitable place for blood-extracting. Typically, the bits form a triangle, irregular circle or a line. Curiously, nearly 40% of all the people in the world do not notice or react to bed bug bites.

Diseases

Bed bugs do not carry viruses, and there are no recorded cases in which they have infected their victim.

Biting spot

Another sign of bed bugs

Another sure sign that you have bed bugs in your home is when you notice small black dots on your bedding, mattress, bed frame, and/or other surfaces that are near the parasite’s hiding place. Those dots are bed bug feces and are extremely difficult to clean. Bed bugs leave these behind when they are well-fed and have greatly increased their size and this does not allow them to jump back into their hiding places.

Feces

These dots represent the faeces of bed bugs and are extremely difficult to clean.

Hiding places

Bed bugs find shelters in dark places, slits and crevices, bed frames, and pretty much any difficult-to-reach place. They prefer their hiding spots to be close to the bed of their victim as their senses are highly developed, and they can feel when their prey is in a deep sleep. It is then when they go out to feed. In low to moderate levels of infestation, bed bugs are hardly noticeable, and there is a high chance that you do not even know that your home is infested.

The most certain sign

The surest sign is when you find the parasite itself or its eggs. The eggs look like very tiny rice grains and can be found on the mattress, bed frame, headboard, chairs, cabinets or other furniture made of wood or textiles.
